2024 - Broadway Chronicles

TheatreSong Collective

Broadway Chronicles

The TheatreSong Collective made their debut performance on Thursday 27th June at the Ondara Theatre with a concert called "Broadway Chronicles".

The concert featured the choir sat in small groups around the stage with a few music stands scattered between them as they sang their way through a whistlestop tour of musical theatre. The oldest numbers were from the Beggars Opera dating from the 18th Century through to Edges from the 21st Century.

There were many audience favourites including the Sound Of Music, Kiss Me Kate, Starlight Express, Miss Saigon, and too many more to list. Three of the cast performed a homage to Andrew Lloyd Webber by singing three of his most famous love songs from Tell Me On A Sunday, Aspects of Love and Jesus Christ Superstar and then mixing all three together into a showstopping mashup.

Although each member of the choir had chosen their own outfits, so they could express their individual personalities, everybody was dressed in black and white, and the stage was also dressed in black and white. The effect was quite stunning especially when they whites of the backdrop and outfits picked up the colours from the lighting that set the mood for each song.

TheatreSong Collective will be putting on concerts dedicated to musical theatre and musical films and the choir are now inviting new members to join them. You do not have to read music to sing with them and they are looking for both experienced singers and first time singers looking to try something new.
